“Behold, our vision!” Mat exploded, causing other patrons to glance over at us. He sounded like Charlton Heston in an old Cecil B. DeMille movie. We sit, joking and excitedly discussing our plans for starting a news website. I’m drinking my Darjeeling tea and Mat with his “whatever the darkest you have, but it better not be bitter or so help me god” coffee. We begin to realize that we may just be able to do this. I’m Sasha and sitting with me is my friend and associate of nearly a decade, Mat.
“When are you going to get a new one” Mat asks me as he nods his well defined aquiline nose towards my old Packard Bell laptop as I peck away on the keyboard. “Do they even make those anymore?” he continues, with a chuckle. “As long as the duct tape holding my charging port in place keeps working, why bother?” I responded. I’ve never been keen on updating for no reason, unlike Mat, who’d most certainly install AI into his toaster if it was available an available update. We are sitting in a cozy, coffee shop frequented by struggling writers and artists, where the cheap coffee comes with one free refill and the walls are covered in witty, comical and sometimes obscure messages from the patrons.
“Are we really doing this?” We look at each other for a long minute, our eyes wide and silly smiles on our lips. He reaches over and taps confirm. Dopamine rush. We are now the proud owners of a shiny new domain name, Clear Point News. It only took us an hour to come up with that name. That perfect name. It’s exactly what we envisioned. Next will be the tiresome task of creating a website and then attracting the interest of writers who want to share their stories with our readers. “podcasts, youtube, instagram, tiktok…” he trails off as I look at him sternly. “We agreed to not get ahead of ourselves” I remind him. Mat would design a book cover before deciding the genre if left to his own devices. “Let’s stay on track and get it done, and done right”. We sit back, me sipping my tea and him staring comically into his empty cup from underneath, with a little wink in my direction. By the time anyone reads this, our website will be done.
We are both students of life and the human experience, just looking for a place to share interesting thoughts, opinions and news, so we decided to create it ourselves.
This is it – not just our introduction, but the very first article ever written for Clear Point News. We, Sasha Preek and Mat Kwairn, are thrilled to share our vision with you: a space where diverse perspectives come together in a free, open-access platform for news and insights. We created Clear Point News because we believe in Accessing Quality News Without Financial Barriers. Our mission is simple – to offer well-written articles by skilled writers from all walks of life, each contributing their voice to a broader conversation about the world around us.
We’re not here to offer polished, politicly funded and corporate-driven content. Instead, Clear Point News is a repository for well-crafted articles, written specifically for us by writers, journalists, bloggers, and even those who have never published anything before. Whether you’re an experienced journalist or just someone with a story to tell, we welcome your contribution. And if you’re wondering about anonymity – yes, we do allow anonymous submissions, because we believe in protecting the voices of those who may fear exposure.
You may be thinking – “How can this be sustainable if you’re not paying your writers and you’re not charging your readers?” It’s simple: we believe that access to news should never come at a cost. Our platform will always remain 100% free for readers.
We also do not rely on third-party fact-checkers, because we trust the power of the community. Your comments, critiques, and responses will help mold and direct the direction of Clear Point News, making it a collaborative, evolving source of information. We hope you’ll take an active role in shaping the future of this platform.
Why We Don’t Make Our Writers Change Their Articles to Reflect Certain Ideologies
At Clear Point News, we believe that the strength of journalism lies in its diversity of thought. We will never force our writers to change their articles to align with a particular ideology. We understand that people have different beliefs, values, and perspectives, and that’s exactly what makes Clear Point News a vibrant space for discussion. It’s not about telling our writers what to say – it’s about giving them the freedom to express their views and insights, regardless of how they might contrast with others. We trust that our readers will engage thoughtfully with the content, bringing their own unique perspectives to the conversation.
How Clear Point News Ensures Trustworthy Reporting
Trustworthy reporting isn’t about conforming to one narrative – it’s about delivering facts, transparent sources, and well-researched content. We hold ourselves to high standards when it comes to the information we share, but we also trust in the wisdom of our community. We don’t have third-party fact-checkers, because we believe that the best way to ensure accuracy is through open dialogue. If something seems off, we encourage you to comment, critique, and even reach out to us directly. Together, we will work to uphold the integrity of Clear Point News.
The Role of Free Speech in Modern Media
In today’s media landscape, free speech is more important than ever. At Clear Point News, we believe that every voice deserves to be heard, regardless of political affiliation, background, or social standing. The role of free speech in modern media is vital to creating a balanced, healthy public discourse. We are committed to fostering an environment where individuals can express their thoughts openly, knowing that their opinions will be respected. Whether you agree with the content or not, we encourage civil dialogue and the exchange of ideas.
The Future of Open-Access News Platforms
As we look to the future, we see a growing need for open-access news platforms that prioritize transparency, diversity, and free expression. Clear Point News is part of this movement, and we believe that the future of news lies in platforms that are accessible to all – not behind paywalls or subscription models. With the rise of misinformation and corporate-sponsored content, it’s more important than ever to have independent, unfiltered news sources. We’re here to be part of that change, providing a space where everyone can share their voice and engage in meaningful conversations about the issues that matter most.
The Importance of Unbiased News Reporting
We understand that unbiased reporting is critical to maintaining the trust of our readers. At Clear Point News, we strive to provide a platform for news that isn’t swayed by external pressures or political agendas. Our goal is to provide a balanced view, offering multiple perspectives on the same issue. We believe that unbiased reporting is about presenting the facts and allowing our readers to make up their own minds. It’s not about pushing an agenda – it’s about providing the information you need to make informed decisions.
As we wrap up our first article, we hope that you’ll find Clear Point News to be a valuable source of free, unhindered news. We want to hear from you – your thoughts, critiques, and contributions will help us grow and improve. We invite you to share our articles and help us expand this platform so that it can continue to provide diverse, unbiased, and accessible news for everyone.
Thank you.
